  • When in Rome – Part One

Light had struck, searing through his eyelids. Aya fought back the urge to continue sleeping, allowing his eyes to open slowly, adjusting to the light. Once he’d made the transfer from sleep to wakefulness, the memory of what had happened before he’d been put to “sleep” came back swiftly. So why, Aya wondered, rapidly regaining…

  • When in Rome – Prologue

“The foundations are burned.” Aya glanced back where the former extortionists lay dead across the room that had been their office. His words were almost drowned out by the ugly creaking sounds that belied his unemotional tone. “We have to leave the building.” “Now that’s an understatement if I ever heard one!” Ken snapped, a…

  • Closet Fears

“Mmm… nice.” “… very funny.” “What, wasn’t it good for you?” “…” “Aw, c’mon!” There was an almost petulant tone to that voice. “You gotta admit, that was some of the good stuff!” The tone of the voice lowered seductively. “And you’re absolutely gorgeous, you know that?” The other voice had softened somewhat, but the…

  • The Matchmaking Mix-Up

“What?” Yohji shrugged. “I got the idea from the girl I was out with last night.” Ken gave him an incredulous look. “A girl that you took out on a date suggested that you go out with other men?“ “Of course not.” The taller man waved a hand dismissively. “She suggested that I try things…

  • So What Else Can Go Wrong?

Omi stood in the back room, looking at the door to the flower shop with some consternation. I must be crazy. He started to reach for the door handle, then drew back his hand. Scratch that. I must be in love. And that’s worse. Well… worse when you weren’t getting what you wanted from it.…

There were thorns on Tsukiyono Omi’s computer chair. “Ow! Shit!” Unfortunately, he discovered this a moment too late. On further inspection, the youngest member of Weiss discovered that there was also a rose attached to those thorns. One of the roses he himself had tended and sold off the week before, actually. “Ow…” Omi checked…

  • Out of Sight

Kaoru volunteered for watch duty when Howard was still sweating out his fever under a blanket with a cold cloth on his forehead. He stood outside and kept his eyes on his surroundings, and tried not to think about that pale grimacing face with blond strands plastered to the sides and drops trickling down his…

  • From the Same Side

Howard was there when Kaoru approached Luna on his last day at Soria Academy. It was so obvious what was coming. Ever since Kaoru had been accepted as a pilot trainee – again – he’d been watching her. Speculatively. Almost hesitantly. With that kind of overly serious, overly cautious determination. Anyone who knew him well,…
